photos by me

By far, one of the most tiring shoots. However, I've never had so much fun taking and editing these photos! Okay so why did I even take these photo? Well, Covetz sent me this galaxy skirt quite awhile ago. And I got so excited when I first saw it. I knew right away I had to attempt levitating. You know. Like going against gravity as if I were in space? :) Haha ok so honestly the 'process' of levitating is really tough. It really depends on how you sit on the chair (that I magically removed using photoshop).   Oh gosh, it was so exhausting staying in a flat position for 10 seconds until the camera clicked. I can say it was a good tummy work out though! Yay for a flatter tummy! It's unfortunate that the lighting was too dark to see the details of the skirt's original galaxy print. But if you are curious, click here to see the full skirt!

As I was browsing through google for galaxy images, I found a whole bunch of them that took my breath away. How can something so beautiful exist?? The milky way.. the stars.. and the lights and colours! "God made all of this?", I thought. How amazing is He.. It really leaves me speechless. God is my inspiration. He's the best artist I know.

He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers.
He stretches out the heavens like a canopy, and spreads them out like a tent to live in.

Being a Christian is not easy. Many times I have failed to keep the faith. To be completely honest, I have not been as passionate for God these few days. I mean, I still do talk to Him everyday. But I feel.. distant, sort of. I hate how I know it's my fault, but yet I still don't do anything about it. Example; I know I have been putting other 'wordly' things before Him. Like my studies and my blog. But deep down.. I know the results of these things are never really fulfilling. Yes I am happy for a short while. But after that, all I feel is emptiness. I try to remind myself everyday 'what do I live for?'. That's the main reason why I don't want to get too attached to fashion. By that, I am referring to clothes. Yes, fashion is a great thing. It's one of the ways I can express myself and my creativity. But it becomes meaningless when you overdo it without emotion (posting for the sake of posting). I love my sponsors, very much. They've given me opportunities to get creative with my blog posts. And I am thankful they understand when I tell them I'd blog by my own pace. I cherish each item they have blessed me with. But I never want to get too attached to them. Clothes are clothes, are clothes. They have no feeling or soul. I would rather get attached to people where there are real emotions. Invest more time and energy and love in things that matter most; family and friends, and most importantly, God.

I just needed to get that off my mind. I honestly feel much better now. I guess God has been testing my faith. I realize that now. And I hope my walk with Him gets stronger like before.

Thank you MiruMiru for the lovely blouse. Also, thanks to Kyeli for taking these photos! I wore this to a lunch date with her yesterday. Took lots of photos too! I'll share them here soon. :)

Give happiness to me, your servant, because I give my life to you, Lord.

Something I've been meaning to share here since too long ago. Well, to keep it short, I have a new sponsor called Autumn Ripple. The lovely Kate who runs the online boutique sells lovely Korean-esque clothes and accessories! (yes I used 'lovely' twice in a sentence) They're all mostly my style so I was really excited to collab with Autumn Ripple. One of the items I was given to is this black bejeweled collar necklace. It is such a darling! I couldn't wait to take photos of it but I had to put it aside for awhile until I checked off some assignments. So thankful I finally found some time! June has been an exhausting month. Anyway, I randomly used these things as props (my flower crowns and daisy perfume which I rarely use) to make the photo look more interesting. Also to give some depth and texture to the photos. Can you tell I love setting up and playing with props!? I can't wait to feature this beauty in an outfit post. Fingers crossed and praying hard God will give me the strength to get through a whole new week of new assignments!

Funny how a few days away from my blog feels like weeks. So I haven't been able to find time to blog last week. And actually, I am not supposed to be blogging right now, I've got so much of assignments to do. Sigh! But I guess a short break from that wouldn't hurt too much. So lately I've been drenched in work from college, stopping me from being able to take outfit photos. However I did take off some time to celebrate one of my closest friend's birthday dinner. The birthday girl, Mei Jing, turns 20 in approximately two weeks. But we had an early celebration for some reasons. It was so nice seeing my old high school friends again. We try our best to meet up once in awhile. Even though it's so hard especially once we started college and our lives got busier by the year. I'm glad we all keep in contact still, and actually reminisce on the old times when we were younger and so immature. Not saying that we are matured now! hahahaha. Cause we are not. We're as silly as ever and I think its nice that we stayed true to ourselves. Yup, I love my friends. I'm thankful I have got a handful of people in my life I can call friends. And I mean 'true' friends. They're rare and hard to find!

Also, I want to say thank you to Mr.Lens and Phatculture for sponsoring me these brown contacts. I don't usually wear contacts (so lazy!) but I had the opportunity to take them out from their box for this dinner. I love them! It makes my eyes bigger and doll-like. Something I'm still getting used to.

photos by dad / illustrations by me

Phew. It's been such a hectic week! I don't know how I keep up with life sometimes. I find myself glued to the computer every single day. And my eyes are getting a little sore from looking at the screen too long. I've been trying to repel myself from checking my mail and going on facebook too often. Too much computer is bad! Sometimes I wonder.. do I actually want to be a full time graphic designer? Cause that'll mean I'll be in front of the screen 24/7. Yikes! Still praying over it. I guess it's normal to be uncertain about our future. I think it's always best to take it one day at a time. Enjoy the journey of life, yes? :)

Eekk! (haha there I go again). When I received this top from Covetz, I knew I had to go all matchy-matchy! And there just had to be a theme! I saw the colours on it and instantly though "CANDY!". That's how the title came about. I got inspired by Katy Perry's California Gurl's video too. I liked her idea of cotton candy clouds so I drew some here! Anddd not forgetting the two cuties, Giggles and Loop! (remember them from this post?) I thought it would be fun if they joined in this outfit post. As you can see, they have a sweet tooth! Having a blast eating all that sugar. Sigh.. If only they were real!

photos by Stefanie Tan

continued from the post below..

Feeling all bittersweet now. I am not sure why either. I guess I got quite emotionally attached to the whole process of this shoot that I had with Stef. Haha I'm so weird, I know! It's like writing the last chapter of a book. Or an ending to a journey/adventure you had with a close friend. Sighhh I don't think I'm making any sense right now. Sorry, my thoughts go all over the place sometimes and I just got back from a long day at school so excuse my oddness.

Anyway! I just want to say that I had a blast collaborating with Stef. I can't wait to see more of her work! Don't you!? She's such a sweetheart and she's got so much potential. I've also been thinking of photographing her before she leaves Malaysia. One; because she has gorgeous features and two; her pixie-like hair cut is so edgy, I love it! Hopefully I can find some time and come up with a concept? Hmm... Just sharing my thoughts! Okiedokie, now I can say:

"That's a wrap!"

It's finally here! I've been anticipating on seeing what the talented Stefanie took at our little photoshoot session together. Firstly, let me introduce you to Stefanie before I write about the shoot. Stef is this beautiful mixed (Dutch and Chinese) 17 year old girl that I knew from church. I was never really close to her actually; I was closer to her sister, Elselyn, only when we were really little though. But one thing I love about facebook is that you can never really lose contact with your old friends. So yeah! Suddenly Stefanie dropped and message asking if I could be her model. Of course, I said yes! And from then we both were pretty excited about the shoot. Both shooting ideas back to back from the theme, props, make up, venue, etc! Ok to keep this short, I loved teaming with Stef. She's really full of ideas and she's as adventurous as me! Climbing on rocks and trees just to take a good photo; yes please. By the way, do check out her blog. It's full of wonderful photos that she captures daily.

Okay I shall leave you to the photos. I hope you like them as much as we do. We put in a lot of effort into this shoot I must say. Hey, it's not easy shooting in such hot weather with fire ants crawling all over you! Haha. Last but not least, thank you Covetz for the amazing mint dress! Definitely helped make the photos look so pretty.

Okay, so I'm going for dinner in a bit so this is going to be brief! I finally got time to take outfit photos just so I could incorporate the accessories from MiruMiru. I had the bow clip and velvet collar left so I thought why not put them both in one outfit since they go well together. I kinda like this outfit a lot. Even though it's real simple. I also found my ballerina necklace that hasn't been used for the longest time! Oh okay time's up, family waiting for me. Like I said in the post below, I'll be back (soon, hopefully) with a whole lot of photos my friend, Stefanie took of me. For now, good bye and be good!

photos by dad

I have been very sleepy lately. Besides going for classes, I often find myself lying on the bed staring at the ceiling. At times like these I feel so unproductive. So useless. When I can use the time to check something off my to-do-list. And I also noticed I've been rummaging through our fridge a lot. Okay, constantly. Never once did I not leave without holding something edible. I also feel sluggish and lazy all the time! I guess my health isn't as pink as before when I used to be more active in sports. Writing this makes me realize... I haven't done any exercise for a long time! Okay that's that. After today, I'm going to (try to) get fit. Yoga mat, you're coming out of that closet! (We'll see about that) haha.

I also got the chance to finally find time for this outfit post. Dad just came back from a business trip yesterday. Just in time to help me snap these. God's good! I wore this CGV sunflower dress to church today. It's really simple and lovely. Also, I've never really seen anything like this dress. Retro sunflower prints are no where to be seen nowadays. That's one of the main reasons why I love vintage. Because the pieces are unique and no one else will be seen wearing the same thing as you. I also found myself fiddling  a lot with this pearl bow ring from MiruMiru at church. Wearing these sponsored items makes me realize I'm so blessed. Sigh. Makes me want to host another giveaway!
